Miss Harriette Badio captures the Miss Liberia Pennsylvania title

On Saturday April 26 2008 Miss Harriette Badio won the Miss Liberia Pennsylvania Title .

Maima Harriet Badio currently lives in Bristol Pennsylvania with her mother Ruby Badio. She is a 20 year old sophomore at The George Washington University, studying Economics and International Affairs, with a concentration in Development. She plans to get her masters in Economics and Business Management and eventually return to Liberia to open a consulting firm. Her hobbies include singing, reading, spending time with family and friends, and being outdoors. Harriet strongly believes in the importance of giving back to the community. She currently works at AnBryce, an organization that strives to promote the academic and personal growth of underprivileged DC children. She developed a passion for music at a young age and enjoys the thrill of being in the studio and recording songs. Her motto is, "When the going gets tough, the tough get going!"

The Miss Liberia Maryland Organization Launches it's Maryland Princess Mentor Program

The Miss Liberia Maryland Organization is pleased to announce the launching of the Miss Liberia Maryland Princess Mentor Program. Our goal is to motivate and mentor Liberian young girls and share experiences that will inspire them to dream of being Miss Liberia Maryland and ultimately Miss Liberia in the US .

The Miss Liberia Maryland Princess Mentor Program is designed to benefit young girls 3 to 12 years of age. The program allows these young girls to be involved with the Miss Liberia Maryland Princess Mentor Program before they reach competition age and to see the Miss Liberia in the US Organization from a whole new light.

The program also provides the young girls an opportunity to serve as role models for other Liberian peers throughout the State of Maryland.Each princess will be matched up with a Miss Maryland contestant. The Miss Contestant will be a "big sister" to the princess and stay in contact throughout the year. Each Princess will receive and sash, a title, and take part in the Miss Liberia Maryland Pageant, as well as receive special invitations to all Miss Liberia Maryland events.

As a Miss Liberia Maryland Princess you are welcome to participate in parades or make appearances with your title making it a fun and beneficial experience for each girl.

Bellah Julius wins the Miss Liberia Georgia title!!!!!

Before a capacity crowd on Sunday night, May 25, 2008, 23 years Bellah Julius was crowned Miss Liberia-Georgia 2008. Bellah won after scoring high marks in the appearances, activities, African attire, evening wear and intelligence categories. During her reign she plans to promote her platform by working with underprivileged youth in the state of Georgia and Liberia; also working along side various project organized by Liberian and International organizations.

The night was full of awe. Miss Archel Bernard was first runner up and Ciatta Kiawu the second runner-up. All of the young ladies were challenging and no one could easily determine the outcome. Other contenders for the crown was Miss Patricia Diggs, Miss Entrepreneur and Esther Pratt, Miss Congeniality. The director of the pageant, Mrs. Alma Dennis-Muah thanked the community, sponsors, the audience, the participants and volunteers for their tremendous support. Bellah will represent the state of Georgia at the Official Miss Liberia USA in July in Philadelphia, PA on July 25, 2008

Miss Liberia Georgia Rosetta Reeves does community service in Liberia.

Miss Liberia Mamawa Fofana ecourages the youth to vote in Liberian Community Association Washington DC Elections

On Sunday March 9th Miss Liberia in the US Mamawa Fofana attended the LCA Washington DC Metropolitian Area Chapter for the 2008 Elections. She spent the entire day meeting and greeting Liberians from all over the Washington DC Metropolitian Area. As they came to cast their voter for the two camps (the Kear/Smith Party and the Johnson/Harris Party). Voters came out in record numbers there were over 800 Liberians who registers and about 500 who came out on election day.

Ms Fofana thought it was wonderful to see Liberians from all over area participate in something that was positive and would beneifit Liberians not only here the DC Maryland and Virginia Metro Area but Liberians across the United States.

The day was filled with excitement and lots of activity after members voted they went to a lounge where they listened to music and ate Tasty Liberian fare provided by Mr Dorzon one the areas best Liberian Caterers. while they waited on the final tally they engaged themselves in healthly politcal discussions. In all, the election process was very succesful.

At the end of the Day it was the Johnson Harris /Team who was elected into office. We at Liberian Pageants congratulate them and wish them the best of luck for the next 2 years.

During the 2007 Pageant Season I had the oppourtunity travel along with the contestants during pageant week. During that time, I had the oppourtunity to see how each one ticks. there likes and dislikes, their strengths and uniqueness. Each one left quite an impression on me. I would like to share my thoughts with you. Maybe there may be something that you can learn from each Queen.

It was the 2nd Day of Pageant week. All of the contestants had checked into New York and the following day we headed up to the Hamptons. All execept Aicha who was coming in late from MN and had transportation problems once she arrived in New York's JFK Airport. Her travel from her home state seemed to take all day. She did not meet up with rest of the group until the wee hours of the following morning.



Despite the hectic travel and flight delays. Aicha had a sense calmness about her. She never buckled under pressure and never missed a beat. She was up bright and early the following to begin her pageant boot camp training with the rest of the contestants.

Being a Miss Liberia in US State Queen is not always about being glamourous. You have to be able to adjust and adapt to any situtation that may come up; from missed flights, early morning reahearsals, and just stress of the competition itself and top it all off, you have to do it with the most ultimate grace and style.

Moderators Comments: Miss Liberia in the US "More Than just a beauty queen"

When I started this blog almost 2 years ago I promised myself that would faithfully monitor this blog and discourage any bashing of any contestant be it from fellow contestants or readers.

Normally I do get great posts the that leave postive messages and words of ecouragement to pageant queen. However this week I received my first post from and anonymous reader that bashes a pageant queen. I decided I would share this with you and address this issue right away.

It reads "Miss Liberia Org, you needs to step up your game Miss Liberia 2007 looks so plain and I dare say unattractive........... YOU MUST HAVE MORE ATTRACTIVE LIBERIAN GIRLS"

Dear Anonynmous

Let me point out a few things to you .
The Miss Liberia in the US Pageant is not pageant system that classifies themselves a "beauty pageant"

If you look at their pageant criteria judges look at the following categories:

African Wear
Swimwear
Evening Wear
Talent and...
Interview (this category is weighted the heeaviest)

No where in the entire book do they judge on a contestants attractivness or physical beauty

I guess the organization finds others characteristics to be more important than just transparent and fleeting beauty. Personally I am quite happy that the organization holds other qualities in higher regard. Besides what's the use of having a Miss Liberia who is just a pretty face and is as dense as a brick and has no talent ?

However if you are looking around just to find some attractive Liberian Girls. Their are lot of websites and calendars that posts attractive Liberian girls all the time. Pick one up. However if you are looking for Liberian women who posses more substance and have more to offer than just a pretty face. Then the Miss Liberia in the US Pageant is where it's at!!!:)

Last of all. This blog is to promote the positive things the Miss Liberia in the US State and Nationals Queens as well at other "reputable Liberian and African Pageants and their Queens" This blog is a place of upliftment and postive recognition. It disturbs me that you say something so cruel that will affect a young lady who is positve, intelligent, vibrant, and who is making a difference her community. It would disturb me even more if you were a fellow Liberian. The mere fact that you would post something like this (anonymous or not) speaks a lot about your character and you have personal issues that you need to come to grips with.

To Miss Liberia 2007. There's a lot of people in this world who will say or post things that may be hurtful and spitful without even thinking on how or whom it will affect. However, I know you can handle it because you are Miss Liberia USA and Miss Liberia USA can handle anything.

The waterfront was all class and culture last Saturday as sassy models from several countries ripped the runway in a special sneak preview of Mokoli's summer collection at Zanzibar. The audience was entertained in a contagious performance by hip-hop queen Madarocka, who stormed the stage with Fulani Twins and brought her crowd to its feet with her song, Africa Love. This performance came two weeks after Mokoli designs were displayed at the World Bank's Annual Global Showcase.

Miss Liberia Maryland's Ambassador Tonia Karmara attends the Leon H Sullivan Summit Awards Dinner in Washington DC

On Thursday Dec 13 2007, Miss Liberia Maryland Ambassador Tonia Kamara attended the 5th annual Sullivan Awards Dinner held at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington DC.

The event was held in honor of his excellency the President of Tananzia for his work and contributions to the foundation.

The foundations mission is to carry on the spirit and legacy of Reverend Leon H. Sullivan, the great African-American international humanitarian.The Leon H. Sullivan Foundation leverage's the commitments and resources of the African Diaspora and friends of Africa to promote positive change in the world. Our work is guided by the principles that Reverend Sullivan championed: self-help, social responsibility, economic empowerment, and human rights. To that end the Foundation advocates on relevant domestic and international issues; supports the work of the Sullivan organizations, and provides a platform for Africa’s political, economic, and, cultural leaders.

The room was filled with African as well as African American celebrities as well as a slew of African American political leaders . Those who spoke that evening included Andrew Young and Jesse Jackson the entertainment for the evening was non other than commedian and actor Chris Tucker as well as Boys to Men who had just flew in from Paris to attend the event.

The Leon H. Sullivan Summits bring together the world’s political and business leaders, delegates representing national and international civil and multinational organizations, and members of academic institutions in order to focus attention and resources on Africa’s economic and social development. Their mission was inspired by Rev. Leon H. Sullivan’s belief that the development of Africa is a matter of global partnerships. It was particularly important to Rev. Sullivan that Africa’s Diaspora and Friends of Africa are active participants in Africa’s development.

She expressed her greatfulness to be able to be able to attend such a grand event and see the genuine effort African Americans have towards the growth and developement of not only Liberia but Africa as a continent .

After the preformance Chris Tucker and Rev.Jesse Jackson come on onstage with Boys to Men to congratulate them for a spectacular show and for promotional photos.

On Friday Oct 20 Telena Cassell left the United States and headed off the Ethopia to participate in the 2007 Miss Tourism Millenium competition.

On September 12th 2007 marked the beinging Ethiopia's new Millennium.
To commemorate this milestone event, The Miss Tourism of the Millennium® beauty pageant is currently underway in Ethiopia.

For the first time in history over 50 International beauty Queens from the seven continents of the World will be invited to visit Ethiopia, the birth place of mankind, to vie for the title of Miss Tourism of the Millennium®.

These guests of the people of Ethiopia will be treated to the best hospitality and Tourist attractions Ethiopia has to offer.

Telena Cassell represents Liberia

Telena Cassell is no newcomer to the world of Pageantry.

She has held the Miss Liberia California and Miss Liberia International Titles

she also particpated in the Miss Black USA Pageant held in the Gambia West Africa

In a past interview with "Running Africa" she stated,"I decided to do pageants because I felt it would give me a platform to launch a campaign to aid Liberia, promote awareness of Liberia, as well as show the beauty of Liberia,"

Cassell, is the founder and leader the Team Liberia California campaign, which aims to promote awareness of Liberian issues, provide aid to Liberia, and foster relationships within the Liberian community.

The mission of Team Liberia California is to enlighten and inform about Liberia as well as strengthen the sense of collectiveness within the Liberian community and foster bonds with other communities.

Liberian Girls United, a subdivision of Cassell's organization, launched a website called LiberianGirl.net. The website was designed to serve Liberian teenagers and young adults who live around the world. Through LiberianGirl.net, she hopes to provide positive role models for young Liberian women and create a space for relevant issues and information that can be viewed by all.
