Adopting A Pageantry Code of Ethics System in African Pageantry.:

Since the sudden boom of Ethnic /African based pageants here in the United States. Many these pageants systems and the contestants as well as judges have complained of the lack of ethical practices shown during these events.

Many other pageants around the world have adopted some type of " Code of Ethics System by which their system abides by. The Code of Ethics systems help to protect Pageant Systems contestants judges and sponsors in from unjustified and fraudulent acts.

The EPIC International Association (Events, Pageants, and Individual Contestants) International Association) estsblished in 1986 took on the mission of eliminating unethical practices and promoting positive experiences with the industry. In doing so EPIC created the pageant industry’s first Code of Ethics and Rules of Censure.

Pageant Systems Directors, Contestants,Judges,Sponsors and Vendors join this Association with the promise to uphold their obligation to their contestants, sponsors and the general public to provide quality pageants with reasonable entry fees, under stated terms and conditions, to conduct business ethically and with integrity and to place contestant, sponsor and general public satisfaction foremost in their endeavors.

Once the pageant System or director has agreed to this Code of Ethics and signed its rules of censure, the Board of Directors designates a seal of Approved Director and Approved Pageant

Each Approved Director and Approved Pageant then obligated to the following:

Members advertising and promotional materials will accurately, honestly and clearly represent their pageant, services, gifts, and prizes as actually provided.

Members will accept responsibility for representations made on behalf of their pageant by employees or agents.

Members shall pay for all goods and services in a timely manner.

Members will make available the pageants rules, regulations, accurate and clearly understandable entry fees, terms and conditions to contestants, sponsors, and the general public.

Members will respond to contestant inquiries and complaints expeditiously and honestly, and will work in good faith to resolve contestant concerns to the contestant's satisfaction.

Members will always hold a judges orientation prior to the pageant and shall admonish judges to refrain from contact with contestants other than at scheduled pageant events.

Members will treat competitors with respect, refraining from making any disparaging comments, accusations, unfavorable implications or providing misleading information about a competitor's products and services.


Constestants as well can become Members of EPIC International
Once Approved contestants are then obligated to the following:

Members resumes, fact sheets and biographical information will accurately, honestly and clearly represent their true and actual background.

Members shall always act responsible and with pride when competing in an event or when representing a event as a title holder.

Members will follow all of the event rules, regulations and obey the terms and conditions set forth by the event in which they are competing.

Members will respond to their event directors inquiries and complaints expeditiously and honestly, and will work in good faith to resolve the event director's concerns to the director's satisfaction.

Members shall refrain from conversations and contact with judges other than at scheduled activities and shall ask their friends and relatives to refrain in the same manner.

Members will not participate in any activities that will harm another competitors chances or result in demoralizing a competitor.

Members will treat competitors with respect, refraining from making any disparaging comments, accusations, unfavorable implications or providing misleading information about a competitor
